DESCRIPTION: $15 SHIPPING CHARGE ADDED TO DOMESTIC INVOICES FOR THIS LOT. Clock - Unsigned French oval form mid-size carriage clock with push button repeat, alarm, and striking on a single gong for every hour and half hour, circa 1890, oval brass case with fine engraved detail and fancy handle and sound fretted base panel, measures 7.5"h (to top of upright handle) x 5"w x 4"d, "D.S Gregory" engraved to base plate, white enamel dial, two-train right angle large lever escapement with two arm compensating balance viewed through an oval glass aperture, 8-9J, gilt mvt, s#45. Comes with a key.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, alarm functions but is six hours out of index with hands, repeat functions properly when striking hours and half hours, push button repeat functions properly for hours but has no pause between hour and half hour strikes, repeat sounds a little "tinny" at times, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, evidence of solder repair to alarm hammer rod, substantial dark haziness to mvt plate, scattered fine scratches and few fingerprint type smudges to back plate, watchmaker's notes etched into gong plate, very minor oxide to steelwork; dial with large patched edge chip to upper-left, patched edge chip to upper-right corner, few scattered hls; fine hands; case shows very little wear, some scratches and watchmaker's notes to base plate, no dents or dings; good beveled glass panels, rear panel with two conchoidal edge fractures to upper-right corner, front panel with fine scratch to upper-left near corner.
